My sister and I had been talking about having an outdoor luncheon or some sort of backyard party with some of our girlfriends for a while now. My sister is a huge Jane Austen fan so we were leaning towards a tea party theme. My sister also has a nice collection of martini glasses and we love trying out new martini recipes, so we decided to have a little fun with our favorite drink & our favorite author...this was definitely our kind of Tea Party! Since the party was in October, we went with a fall color theme of greens, oranges, reds, and browns. We had so much fun putting all the DIY details together.
A framed Jane Austen quote,
and a tray of martini glasses greeted the Jane Austen fans as they walked into the sitting room. Don't you just love the little tags my sister designed? She's so clever!
A little Jane Austen trivia to help break the ice.
Once everyone arrived, we walked over to the backyard for our late lunch of cucumber & chicken salad sandwiches, organic spinach salad, and cheese straws.
Our signature martini was the caramel apple-tini to go with our fall theme :)
We filled a huge martini glass with fun Jane Austen "Thank You" tags tied with a ribbon to a bag of Tazo green tea.
We set the table with fall color themed plates and used a long piece of burlap as our table runner.
Since we weren't drinking traditional hot tea at our Tea Party, we thought we should use this cute tea pot anyhow and fill it with lovely yellow flowers.
I think everyone's favorite table was the dessert table!
With a chocolate tart, red velvet cupcakes, and almond scones, there was something for everyone.
Lastly, we had stacks of Jane Austen and Jane Austen inspired books throughout the tables to help tie our theme nicely!
Thanks again to our friends for helping put it all together and for bringing some yummy desserts, too! We can't wait to plan our next party!
xoxo,
Jessie
